Technical note,

Our sphercial camera captures full 360° environments with 6 lenses recording in all directions. (spherical video)
We then stitch the 6 streams together to create a panoramic image. Up to 4000x2000 pixels at 25 frames per second.

Capturing the environment,

Our camera is connected to a computer through firewire800 and has lithium batteries (8hrs/day)
Lightweight and easy, only the cameraman is present at the time of capture.

Postproduction,

Once the capture is done, we export the 6 streams recorded sperately in a proprietary raw format, to stitch them together to get a panoramic image sequence. Once this is done we can start editing audio and video. Graphics and animations are done in a 3D animation software using our proprietary render engine.

Digital Immersion handles the whole production and postproduction pipeline from writing to broadcasting.

Playing,

Watching an immersive video can be done over the internet using your mouse the look around but also localy through a head-mounted display, touchscreens or simulators. We also developed a HOTSPOT ability with our FLASH player. HOTPOTS are interactive areas inside the video that generates actions such as displaying additional texts, pictures and videos. You can also change direction in the movie or open a new webpage with the adress of your choice. Other actions on demand.
